Focus / Responsibilities

John’s primarily focused today on providing a full range of real estate services to several private clients including tenant and landlord representation. In addition, John is an integral member of InSite’s office/industrial acquisition and disposition team and the marketing team responsible for the leasing of InSite’s office portfolio.     

Experience

In a unique move, John was recruited to InSite in 1999 from his law practice to specifically handle the day to day leasing responsibilities of a one million square foot multi-tenant industrial service center portfolio consisting of 25 buildings located across Greater Houston and to foster a new Insite owner relationship with Carval Financial Services.  This relationship is still thriving today.  After quickly establishing himself in the real estate arena, John’s role within InSite expanded wherein he became integrally involved in the leasing of additional InSite and third party owned office and industrial projects and the successful acquisition of several properties and subsequent sale of such projects to outside investors. John’s success in navigating the leasing of projects with a high-volume of tenants led him to being honored as an HBJ Commercial Real Estate Heavy Hitter during multiple years.  John has also had oversight roles in the asset and property management of several office/industrial properties owned by Insite and third parties. To add to his team player mentality, John has also been responsible for the management of several of InSite’s internal operations. With John’s vast knowledge and experience across all areas of the real estate process, John is and continues to be both a significant leader and an extremely valuable asset to InSite and our clients.    

Of the close to 1,000 lease transactions that John has orchestrated on behalf of owners Carvel Financial Services, multiple InSite owned entities, Westmount Realty Capital, TA Associates Realty, Agarita SW Houston, Park Ten of Houston and Western General Holdings, some of the noteworthy tenants include Samsung, Wood Group, Atwood Oceanics, Next Financial, MD Anderson, The Methodist Hospital, Continental Airlines, Nace International, Anadarko, Schlumberger, BP and Goodman Manufacturing.

Education / Designations 

John graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in 1985 and spent the ensuing five years working in hospital administration while also earning his Master's of Business Administration with a finance concentration from the University of Houston in 1991. He then went on to attend the South Texas College of Law where he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1994.  John spent the next five years as a civil defense litigator in Houston with the firm of Hays, McConn, Rice and Pickering before beginning his real estate career.
